In August 2014 we participated in a hike to the Burgess Shale deposit and the Walcott Quarry near Field, BC. This was a 21 km round trip to the quarry that was at around 6500 feet. The weather varied from sunny to light rain. We did get some sunshine to get some good photos and some interesting photos in fog. These photo here is of the quarry that has restricted access. There are fossils in many of the pieces laying around but you are not allowed to take anything as this is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
